Use custom date ranges

Query an exact Detailed Logs period, understand time-zone handling and retention, and resolve invalid or empty date ranges.

Use a custom date range when an incident, deployment, maintenance window, or customer report does not align with the 24-hour, 7-day, or 30-day presets.

Select a custom range

  1. Open Detailed Logs for the monitor.
  2. Set Range to Custom.
  3. Enter both From and To.
  4. Add any status, diagnosis, HTTP, error, or latency filters.
  5. Select Apply.

The current table remains usable while you edit the date fields. The new range is not queried until you select Apply.

Maximum range and retention

One Detailed Logs query can cover up to 30 days, matching raw-check retention. The page rejects a longer From-to-To span before replacing the active result set.

Selecting an old 30-day period does not restore expired records. Raw checks age out continuously, so a range ending more than 30 days ago will normally be empty. Use Monitor Details rollups for long-term availability and response trends and incident history for confirmed outages.

How the time fields are interpreted

The From and To controls use the browser device's local date and time when creating the query. Displayed table timestamps use the account's dashboard time-zone preference, or the browser time zone when that preference is selected.

If the account time zone differs from the device time zone, the values entered in the picker and the formatted table labels can look different even though they refer to the same instant.

For a precise comparison with server logs:

  1. Confirm the device time zone.
  2. Note the dashboard time-zone preference.
  3. Use the displayed time-zone abbreviation in the table.
  4. Use the CSV export when an ISO 8601 UTC timestamp is easier to correlate.

From and To are exact boundaries

Checks at the From or To instant are included. The picker normally records time to the minute.

If you want to include an entire minute, set To to the beginning of the following minute. For example, a To value of 14:33 represents 14:33:00 and does not include a check recorded at 14:33:45.

Validation messages

The page does not submit the range when:

  • From or To is missing or invalid.
  • From is later than To.
  • The selected span exceeds 30 days.

The invalid fields receive a visible error state. Correct them and select Apply again. The previously applied results remain available while the new selection is invalid.

Why a valid range can be empty

A valid range can still return no checks when:

  • It is before the monitor was created.
  • The monitor was paused or archived throughout the period.
  • Raw records from that period have expired.
  • Other applied filters exclude all checks.
  • The active monitor had a processing problem and produced no results.
  • A future From or To period was selected.

Select Reset to test the last 24 hours with no status or diagnosis restrictions. If recent active-monitor checks are also missing, follow the new-monitor and delayed-update troubleshooting guidance.
