Disabled means Uptime Basics has intentionally stopped scheduling checks for that free service-status page. It does not mean the monitored website is Down.
The status is shown explicitly so an old successful result is not presented as current availability after monitoring stops.
What changes when a page is Disabled
The public page shows:
- a Disabled status pill;
- Monitoring disabled, with the previous check time when available;
- Check frequency: Disabled;
- no current response-time or HTTP-status value; and
- Monitoring is disabled instead of a Recent History table.
No new 15-minute checks are scheduled while the page remains disabled.
What happens to previous information
The page configuration and its direct URL can remain available. Previous check records continue aging under the normal 24-hour free-page retention period; disabling a page does not preserve or extend them.
A disabled page is removed from the active Public Status directory and public sitemap. Its page also sends a noindex instruction to search engines.
The direct URL can remain visible so visitors receive an honest Disabled explanation rather than an outdated Up result or a generic missing-page error.
Disabled is not Down

Always use the label and the latest check timestamp together. A previous check time does not represent a new observation after monitoring has been disabled.
Why Uptime Basics may disable a page
A free service page can be disabled when:
- the target blocks automated checks and no credible public endpoint is available;
- the selected URL no longer represents the service;
- repeated results cannot be interpreted reliably;
- the page is being reviewed or updated; or
- Uptime Basics no longer intends to operate that free page.
Uptime Basics does not convert blocked or ambiguous responses into a fake Up result. When a target cannot be monitored credibly, disabling or removing the page is preferred.
If monitoring resumes
When an administrator re-enables the page, its live status returns to Pending and previous response values are cleared until a new check completes. The normal 15-minute schedule then resumes.
