Change your password

Change the password used for Uptime Basics sign-in and resolve common current-password, session, and retry errors.

You can change your sign-in password from the Security tab when you know your current password. If you no longer know it, use password recovery from the sign-in page instead.

Change the password

  1. Open Account from the customer dashboard.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Enter your Current password.
  4. Enter a compliant password in New password.
  5. Enter the same value in Confirm new password.
  6. Select Update password.

Uptime Basics checks the password requirements before submitting the change. Incorrect or incomplete fields are highlighted. When the identity service accepts the change, a confirmation window reports that the password was updated.

Use the new password the next time you sign in. The Show button beside each password field can temporarily reveal what you entered.

If the current password is incorrect

Re-enter the password currently used for this account. The current-password field is intentionally empty when the page opens and is never filled with your saved password.

If you cannot remember the current password:

  1. Sign out of Uptime Basics.
  2. Start password recovery from the sign-in page.
  3. Follow the identity verification instructions.
  4. Sign in with the replacement password.

Support will never ask you to send your current password, replacement password, authenticator code, or verification code.

If the session cannot change passwords

An older sign-in session may not contain the permission required for a password change. If the page asks you to sign in again, sign out completely, sign back in, and retry from Account > Security.

Too many attempts

For account security, password changes are limited to five attempts per hour. If you reach the limit, stop retrying and wait before trying again. Repeated submissions during the cooldown can keep producing the same message.
