Monitor, one-minute, timeout, and SMS limits by plan

Review the monitor capacity, one-minute slots, check intervals, request timeouts, and monthly SMS allowance included with each plan.

Starter, Plus, and Pro include the same core monitoring, incident, log, alert, and status-page features. Their main limits are monitor capacity, one-minute monitor slots, and monthly SMS alert segments.

Limits at a glance

Plan Active or paused monitors One-minute monitor slots Standard maximum timeout One-minute maximum timeout SMS segments per month
Starter 10 0 10 seconds Not available 20
Plus 25 5 10 seconds 8 seconds 50
Pro 50 10 10 seconds 8 seconds 100

Monitor capacity

Each active or paused monitor uses one monitor position. Pausing a monitor stops scheduled checks but does not free its position because its configuration remains part of the active dashboard.

Archived monitors do not use active monitor capacity. You can reactivate an archived monitor when the plan has an available monitor position and its interval fits the current plan.

Check intervals

The available scheduled intervals are:

  • 1 minute, when the plan has an available one-minute slot;
  • 5 minutes;
  • 15 minutes;
  • 30 minutes; and
  • 60 minutes.

Starter begins at five-minute checks. Plus includes up to five one-minute monitors, and Pro includes up to ten. Monitors beyond those one-minute allowances can use five-minute or longer checks.

The default interval for a new monitor is five minutes on every plan. Selecting a one-minute interval uses one of the plan's one-minute slots until that monitor is changed, archived, or deleted. A paused one-minute monitor continues to reserve its slot.

Request timeouts

You can select a timeout of 5, 8, or 10 seconds for standard checks. One-minute monitors have an eight-second maximum timeout so the previous check can finish reliably before the next scheduled check begins.

A timeout controls how long a check waits for the monitored server. It is different from a slow-response alert threshold: a timeout can produce a failed availability check, while a slow-response result can remain available and create a separate performance incident.

Monthly SMS allowance

SMS usage is measured in message segments, not simply button presses or incidents. Each recipient and each segment counts toward the allowance.

  • Allowances reset at 12:00 AM UTC on the first day of each calendar month.
  • Unused segments do not roll over.
  • Uptime Basics does not automatically charge SMS overages.
  • SMS verification codes do not reduce the monitor-alert allowance.
  • Current SMS delivery supports verified Canadian and US phone numbers.

If the allowance is exhausted, SMS monitor alerts pause until the next monthly reset. Email alerts can continue according to the account and monitor settings.
