An archived monitor is an inactive monitor configuration saved during a plan change. It does not run checks or send alerts, but you can reactivate it later if your current plan has an available monitor slot.
Archiving is different from pausing or deleting:
- A paused monitor remains in the main dashboard and can be activated from Monitor Details.
- An archived monitor is removed from the active dashboard list but keeps its configuration for later reactivation.
- A deleted monitor is removed from active service and can be restored paused from Recently deleted for 30 days.
Find your archived monitors
- Sign in to Uptime Basics and open the dashboard.
- In the Monitors section, select Archived.
- Review the saved configurations. Each card shows the monitor name, URL, archive date, previous interval, and request method.
The page loads archived monitors in bounded pages. Use the page-size selector and Previous or Next controls when your account has more archived monitors.
Reactivate a monitor
- Open Archived monitors from the dashboard.
- Find the monitor you want to restore.
- Choose a reactivation interval from the intervals available to your current plan.
- Select Reactivate.
- Review the confirmation and select Reactivate again.
The monitor returns to the active dashboard immediately. Its current status starts as Unknown until a new check completes at the selected interval.
Plan capacity and one-minute intervals
The Archived monitors page shows your active monitor usage and available capacity. Reactivation is allowed only when:
- Your current plan has an available monitor slot.
- The selected interval is included with your current plan.
- A one-minute slot is available when you select a one-minute interval.
- Another active monitor does not already use the same URL and request method.
If the monitor's old interval is no longer available after a downgrade, Uptime Basics recommends an allowed interval, normally five minutes. You can select another available interval before confirming.
What happens to monitoring history
Reactivation reconnects the saved monitor configuration to its existing retained history. Archiving does not restart or extend any retention period:
- Raw check logs remain available for 30 days.
- Alert history remains available for 14 days.
- Aggregated summaries remain available for up to 400 days.
- Incident history remains associated with the monitor for the life of that monitor.
Data that expired while the monitor was archived cannot be restored. The first new check after reactivation begins a new current-status sequence without changing older retained records.
Delete an archived monitor
Select Delete on an archived monitor to move it to Recently deleted. After you confirm:
- The archived monitor stops using saved archive space in the main list and remains recoverable for 30 days.
- Its public status page is disabled and its shared slug remains reserved during recovery.
- It can be restored paused if the current plan has capacity and the target remains allowed.
Use Delete permanently from Recently deleted only when the recovery period is no longer needed. Permanent cleanup can take a short time to finish across retained data stores.
If reactivation is unavailable
Read the message shown on the page. Common causes include:
- Your plan's active monitor limit is already full.
- All included one-minute slots are in use.
- The monitored domain no longer resolves to a safe public destination.
- An administrator has blocked the target for security or abuse prevention.
- An active monitor already covers the same URL and request method.
Archive or delete another active monitor when capacity is full, or choose a longer available interval when the one-minute allowance is full. Contact Uptime Basics Support if the target is public and the reason remains unclear.
