Pausing a monitor stops active monitoring but does not automatically disable its public status page. An enabled page remains available and clearly shows Paused instead of displaying an outdated Up or Down result as current.
What visitors see
The public page changes its status pill to Paused and explains that monitoring was paused by the owner. It also states that historical results remain visible and the page is not being actively updated.
Depending on the page's display settings, visitors can still see previously generated:
- Seven-day uptime metrics.
- Uptime timeline.
- Response-time history.
- Recent check history.
- Recent incidents.
The Last checked value remains the time of the most recent completed check. The paused page does not show a stale-data warning because the lack of fresh checks is intentional.
What stops while paused
Pausing stops new:
- Availability checks.
- Slow-response detection.
- SSL and domain-expiry checks.
- Monitor alerts and new monitoring incidents.
- Public snapshot refreshes caused by completed checks.
Existing data continues to age under the normal retention policy.
Shared and custom URLs
The enabled shared status-page URL remains available. An active custom status domain also remains configured and shows the Paused state.
Pause the monitor when you want to stop monitoring while keeping visitors informed. Disable the status page separately when it should not be publicly accessible.

After reactivation
When you reactivate the monitor, scheduled checks resume. The public page returns to active monitoring as new results arrive and the refreshed snapshot reaches the public cache.
Review the page after the first completed check to confirm its current Up or Down state.
