Creating an Uptime Basics account begins with a plan selection. Starter includes a 30-day free trial. Plus and Pro are paid immediately through secure Stripe Checkout and do not include a free trial.
Public account creation is available. Select Start 30-day trial for Starter, Choose Plus, or Choose Pro from the pricing section to begin the appropriate signup flow.
Before you begin
Have the following ready:
- An email address you can access immediately.
- A password containing 8 to 99 characters, no spaces, uppercase and lowercase letters, a number, and at least one of these symbols:
! @ # $ % * - _ + =. - The country or region of the billing address and, for Canada, its province or territory.
- A valid payment method for Stripe Checkout.
- Permission to accept the Terms of Service for yourself or your organization.
One free trial is available per customer or organization, verified email address, and payment method.
Create the account
- Select Start free trial for Starter, Choose Plus, or Choose Pro from an authorized signup entry point.
- Enter the email address you want to use for sign-in.
- Create and confirm your password.
- Select the location of the billing address. If it is in Canada, select its province or territory.
- Expand Optional account details if you want to add your full name and company or organization.
- Review and accept the Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
- Select Continue to email verification.
- Complete the account-creation security check if it asks for interaction.
- On the dedicated email-verification step, enter the six-digit code sent to your email address.
- Select Verify email and continue.
- Review the selected plan and add a payment method on the Stripe-hosted checkout page. Starter shows $0 due today; Plus or Pro shows the payment due before you confirm.
- Complete checkout, then select Sign in to your dashboard.
Stripe handles the payment method. Uptime Basics does not store your complete payment card number.
The signup journey shows three separate stages: Account details, Verify email, and Secure checkout. Your password stays in the active signup page while you complete email verification and is not stored in browser storage. A Starter trial begins only after successful Stripe checkout. Plus and Pro access begins after Stripe confirms the initial subscription payment.
Signup location availability
At launch, Uptime Basics accepts new accounts from the United States and Canada excluding Quebec. Customers outside those active launch markets may register when the Service can lawfully support their location, but Uptime Basics does not actively market to those locations at launch.
New accounts with Quebec billing addresses are temporarily unavailable while French-language service, documentation, contracts, and support are prepared. Select the location that matches the billing address you will provide to Stripe. The signup page collects only the location category and Canadian province or territory; Stripe securely collects the complete billing address.
About the account-creation security check
Uptime Basics uses Cloudflare Turnstile before sending a signup verification code. It normally runs automatically and asks for interaction only when needed. The check helps distinguish legitimate account-creation requests from automated abuse; it does not verify your identity or replace email verification.
If the check expires or cannot finish, retry it before requesting another email code. JavaScript and access to Cloudflare's challenge service must be available in the browser.
What the signup email becomes
The verified signup email is used for:
- signing in to the customer account;
- the initial account contact email;
- the initial verified alert email; and
- trial, billing, security, and service messages where applicable.
You can add other contact or alert destinations from Account > Alerts, but each additional email address or phone number must be verified separately. Adding another destination does not change the login email.
What happens after checkout
Stripe confirms the subscription through the billing system. The account receives the selected plan, and you can sign in to create the first monitor. If confirmation is still processing, wait a moment before signing in or refresh the completion page.
The Starter trial lasts 30 days. Unless canceled, it renews for $4.99 USD per month when the trial ends. Uptime Basics sends reminder emails 7 days and 1 day before that date. Plus is $9.99 USD per month and Pro is $19.99 USD per month; both are paid when checkout is completed and renew monthly unless canceled.
Troubleshooting
A signup button is unavailable
Refresh the page and try again. If the button remains unavailable, confirm JavaScript is enabled and contact Support with the page URL and a screenshot.
The verification email does not arrive
Check spam, junk, promotions, and mail-filtering rules. Confirm the displayed address, wait a few minutes, and then select Send a new code. A new code replaces the previous one.
The security check does not complete
Wait for the check to finish, then retry. If it continues to fail, refresh the signup page, confirm JavaScript is enabled, and temporarily allow the security check through strict privacy, script-blocking, or network-filtering tools. Contact Support if the problem continues.
The email already has an account
Use Sign in or Forgot password instead. Do not create a second account for the same email address.
Checkout was canceled
No trial begins and no payment is charged when Checkout is closed or canceled before completion. The Checkout link remains available for up to one hour. When it expires, Uptime Basics automatically removes the incomplete login, pending account profile, temporary signup record, Stripe customer, and pre-checkout billing activity. Start a new signup after the expired session has been cleaned up.
The trial is not eligible
The verified email or payment method may already have received a trial. Contact support if you want to start a paid subscription or believe the eligibility result is incorrect.
