Customize page title, brand name, and description

Write clear public status-page text, understand field limits, and distinguish basic page identity from verified visual branding.

The Overview tab controls the public page title, brand name, and description. Use clear, accurate language so visitors immediately know which website the page represents.

Update the page text

  1. Open the monitor.
  2. Open Public Status Page and select Set up Page or Manage settings.
  3. On Overview, edit the page title, brand name, and description.
  4. Select Save status page.
  5. Open the public URL and review the result on desktop and mobile.

Page title

The page title identifies the service at the top of the public page and in the browser title. It can contain up to 120 characters.

Use a direct title such as:

  • Example Store Status
  • Example API Availability
  • Example Customer Portal Status

Avoid claims that the page covers systems the monitor does not actually check.

Brand name

The brand name is the short public identity used by the status-page design. It can contain up to 80 characters.

Use a business, product, or service name you own or are authorized to represent. The slug still has to match the monitored domain, even if the public-facing brand name differs from that domain.

Description

The description can contain up to 500 characters. Explain what is monitored and what the result means without adding private operational details.

For example:

Live availability and response information for the Example customer portal. Updates are based on automated checks performed by Uptime Basics.

Do not include passwords, private endpoints, internal contacts, access tokens, or troubleshooting secrets. The description is public.

Basic identity versus verified branding

The title, brand name, and description can be configured for the basic shared status page. Ownership verification is required before uploading a logo or favicon, applying custom colors, enabling analytics, or activating a custom domain.

This distinction lets you publish a useful page quickly while protecting higher-trust branding features from impersonation.

Search-engine behavior

Changing the title or description does not make the shared status.uptimebasics.com page indexable. Shared pages remain noindex. Search indexing is an explicit option only for a verified custom-domain status page.
